MARIA DA PENHA LAW: AN ANALYSIS OF THE STATISTICS ON URGENT PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN THE DEFENSE OF WOMEN FROM 2023 TO 2025

This article aims to present data collected from the National Council of Justice regarding the number of urgent protective measures granted in Brazil between 2023 and 2025, focusing on the Maria da Penha Law in combating domestic violence against women. The research problem investigates whether the strengthening of penalties for crimes of violence against women has contributed to reducing the number of requested protective measures in Brazil, considering the data from the analyzed period. The general objective is to analyze whether stricter penalties have led to a decrease in the number of urgent protective measures requested between 2023 and 2025, according to official data from the National Council of Justice. The methodology is based on a qualitative and quantitative approach, supported by a bibliographic review grounded in Costa (2021), Moraes (2025), and Leite (2025), as well as the analysis of official statistical data provided by the National Council of Justice. The study also adopts the deductive method, articulating theoretical foundations with empirical evidence. The results indicate a significant increase in the number of protective measures granted during the analyzed period, which may reflect greater access of victims to the justice system, but also highlights the persistence of domestic violence and possible limitations in the preventive and deterrent effect of the legislation. It is concluded that, although the Maria da Penha Law represents an important advancement in the protection of women's rights, challenges still remain regarding the effectiveness of these measures and the reduction of violence.
