JUVENILE OFFENSES ANALOGOUS TO ROBBERY AND THEFT: CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES

Abstract

This study analyzes the problem of offenses analogous to the crimes of robbery and theft committed by adolescents, considering the growing perception of public insecurity and the challenges faced by the Brazilian socio-educational system. It starts from the understanding that offenses committed by adolescents do not stem solely from individual choices, but result from multiple social, economic, and family factors, such as social inequality, school dropout, economic vulnerability, and the fragility of public policies. Its general objective is to examine the causes and consequences of these behaviors in light of the Brazilian legal system, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of socio-educational measures in preventing recidivism and promoting resocialization. A qualitative methodology is used, with an exploratory and descriptive approach, based on bibliographic and documentary research, analyzing the 1988 Federal Constitution, the Statute of the Child and Adolescent, doctrine, and relevant scientific productions. We conclude that the effectiveness of socio-educational measures depends on the integrated action of the State, the family, and society, as well as the strengthening of preventive public policies capable of addressing the structural causes of juvenile delinquency and promoting the social inclusion of adolescents in conflict with the law.
