THE INFLUENCE OF EARLY ADULTIFICATION IN CHILDHOOD STIMULATED BY THE MEDIA AND THE FAMILY CONTEXT

The early adultification of children is a contemporary phenomenon intensified by the media, digital social networks, and family dynamics, characterized by the anticipation of behaviors, responsibilities, and aesthetic standards typical of adult life. This study aims to analyze how early adultification, stimulated by the media and the family context, influences the psychosocial and affective development of children. This is a qualitative and exploratory bibliographic study based on the analysis of scientific articles, books, dissertations, and institutional documents published in national and international academic databases. The results show that early exposure to adultified content, child sexualization, and excessive responsibility can compromise the emotional, cognitive, and social development of children, favoring anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulties in emotional regulation, and fragility in interpersonal bonds. It is also observed that parentification and the influence of social networks intensify the search for external validation and reduce fundamental childhood experiences, such as play and the playful construction of identity. It is concluded that the adultification of children represents a risk factor for healthy development, making it necessary to expand protection strategies, family awareness, and media regulation aimed at preserving childhood and strengthening children’s integral development.
